There have been growing calls for Chinese users to boycott Apple’s iPhones and other devices as Washington imposes fresh restrictions on Chinese telecom giant Huawei.
The outcry has been most evident on Weibo, the Chinese version of Twitter, with users saying they will change their phones from Apple to Huawei unless restrictions on Huawei are lifted.
Weibo is awash with glowing endorsements for Huawei products, compared to Apple, with one user saying his Huawei “chops an apple into eight pieces”.
Huawei has said it is still open to addressing US security concerns, but the US restrictions are getting tighter and tighter, giving the Chinese telecommunication giant little room to move.
