Consumer electronics retailers and B2B channels in Australia are set for a boost as consumers and small businesses look to upgrade the computers they purchased during the COVID-driven sales boom.

According to Counterpoint Research, notebook PC panel shipments are expected to grow 4% in 2025, driven by strong demand for new AI-enabled devices, with premium notebooks particularly in focus.

Key forecasts from Counterpoint include:

2025: Notebook PC panel shipments are projected to rise 4% year-on-year (YoY), with advanced notebooks—featuring OLED and MiniLED technologies—representing 8% of the category.

2025: Advanced notebook PC panel shipments are expected to increase 9% YoY, while OLED notebook panels also grow 9% YoY.

2026: OLED notebook panels are forecast to surge 30% YoY, fueled by Apple’s introduction of 14.3-inch and 16.3-inch OLED MacBook Pro models, which are expected to accelerate OLED adoption across IT form factors.

The overall growth is being driven in part by companies upgrading the three-year-old notebooks purchased during COVID lockdowns, as well as by AI-focused upgrades and a wave of new product launches.

David Naranjo, Associate Director at Counterpoint Research, said:

“Major brands are expected to perform strongly through 2025 as enterprise refresh cycles, software upgrades, and AI enablement sustain robust demand. We forecast advanced notebook PC panel shipments to rise 9% YoY next year, marking another solid year of growth for this segment.”
