Aussies Can Now Play Fortnite On Nintendo Switch

To the delight of several million fans, Nintendo has announced the hugely popular ‘Fortnite Battle Royal’ has landed on the Switch. Announced at E3, Aussies can download the game from the eShop from 7am AEST today.

Fortnite Battle Royal recently overtook rival PUBG for the highest number of concurrent players. Latest numbers state Fortnite’s monthly active user base now exceeds 40 million.

The Fortnite Switch version will support cross-play with Xbox One, PC and mobile users – with the notable exception of PlayStation 4 players.

Epic Games also asserts Fortnite Battle Royale on the Switch is the “same game you know” on the PS4, Xbox One, PC and mobile.

“Same gameplay, same map, same content, same weekly updates. With Switch, you can squad up with your friends in the same room or around the world, and even play on the go,” the developer claims.

At this stage, there is reportedly no plans to bring the “Save the World” component of Fornite to the Switch.

Also announced at E3 was Nintendo’s new Super Smash Bros Ultimate. The game features every character from the saga’s long running history, plus some new faces.
