Many a delicate TV designed for indoor use has been hauled into an Australian backyard during the summer months.

However, it has long been possible to buy televisions expressly designed for outdoor use.

Sylvox, a pioneer in outdoor television technology, is expanding its footprint in Australia just in time for barbecue season.

All its units are designed specifically for outdoor environments, meeting IP55 waterproof and dustproof standards and operating in temperatures from –30°C to +50°C.

While it’s been possible to buy Sylvox’s TVs from the company’s website for some time, their televisions haven’t had much of a presence in Australia until now.

The California-based company is determined to change that situation and has recently ramped up its presence in JB HiFi and Harvey Norman.

Sylvox will also be showcasing its latest range of weatherproof TVs at the Integrate AV Expo. This is being held at Sydney’s International Convention Centre from August 27-29.

The company already intended to devote more attention to the Australian market. But recent changes to tariff regimes and global supply chains have added some urgency to the push.

Camping is more fun when you can still watch TV

“Sylvox was already planning to grow in Australia, but the recent tariff changes accelerated our timeline,” says Ada Guan, Sylvox’s Director of Marketing and e-Commerce.

Sylvox co-founders Golden Young and Tracy Lee are flying in for the Integrate AV Expo. Both are confident that Australians will embrace their products, especially once there is greater brand awareness.

“Australians are famous for their love of the outdoors – sport, barbecues, and the bush. Sylvox TVs are built to thrive in these conditions – whether under the glare of the sun or during sudden storms,” Young says.

“Integrate AV is the perfect platform for Australians to experience what makes Sylvox unique – from extreme brightness and waterproofing to smart outdoor functionality,” adds co-founder Lee. “Following our CES debut, this is a key milestone in making outdoor living as seamless and high-quality as indoor entertainment.”

Since its founding in 2009, Sylvox has sold 50,000 outdoor televisions and it now distributes to 100 countries. It’s well-prepared to conquer what could become a lucrative market.

“Sylvox has grown into a global leader in outdoor television,” notes Guan. “Now, we’re redefining what outdoor entertainment looks like in Australia.”
