Arlo Takes On Ring With New Cheaper Security Cameras

Days out from Amazon announcing a new range of Ring security cameras Arlo has rolled out a new cheaper Essentials range of home security gear.

The US security Company has moved to renew its two-year-old video doorbell, by introducing not one, but two new models that are cheaper than previous models and are easier to connect to their security network.

In addition, the company is updating two of its outdoor cameras, as well as its indoor security camera, with new features and capabilities.

The second generation of its Essential camera and doorbell have been described as being more affordable than their predecessors.

Pricing for Australia is expected to be announced next week, it’s tipped to half the price of previous models for example US pricing for the Essential indoor camera is US$39 Vs $99.99 for the original model.

Like its predecessor, the updated indoor camera has a 130-degree viewing angle, night vision, and an integrated siren.

The lineup includes the new XL outdoor camera, a new outdoor camera, and a new video doorbell.

The second-generation Essential indoor camera is believed to be cheaper than Ring’s new indoor camera.

The new model can be either hardwired or run off battery power.

The new Arlo video doorbell will have an integrated siren, which you can trigger from the Arlo app, or automatically. And, the doorbell will work with Arlo’s new Security Tag 3 system, so that you can arm and disarm the system merely by tapping the tag to the doorbell.

The new video doorbell will be offered in two resolutions: a 1080p model and a cheaper 2K model.

The new generation of their Essential Outdoor XL camera apparently delivers longer battery life than previous models with up to four times more battery life.

You can also connect any of Arlo’s cameras to a solar panel, and all of the current accessories should work with the new models.

The Essential Outdoor XL has a 130-degree field of view, and a built-in spotlight and siren. It also has colour night vision.

The majority of Arlo’s cameras are designed to be used outdoors, but it does have one indoor camera, which is also getting an upgrade. Like the original, the 2nd gen camera has an automated privacy shield, which you can open and close via the Arlo app.

Also like the original, it has a 130-degree field of view, night vision, two-way talk, and a built-in siren.

More on these cameras are expected to be announced next week.
