Are Samsung’s 2026 Flagship Phones About to Demand More Power?
A recent update on Samsung’s website has sparked new speculation about the company’s 2026 smartphones. The appearance of a new 60W Samsung power brick has many wondering whether the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will support significantly faster charging speeds.
Last month, Android Authority uncovered references in early One UI 8.5 code that pointed to new charging tiers beyond Samsung’s current Super Fast Charging and Super Fast Charging 2.0 profiles—traditionally capped at 25W and 45W on existing Galaxy phones.
The discovery of a higher charging tier in the leaked software lines up neatly with Samsung’s freshly listed 60W adapter, fuelling theories that the company is preparing to boost wired charging performance for the first time since the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
In terms of hardware, the new Samsung 60W Power Adapter supports up to 60W via USB-C PD 3.1, offering both PDO and PPS modes for compatible devices. Samsung also cites ultra-low standby power consumption below 5 mW, along with built-in protections for overheating, overcurrent, and short circuits.
Marketed as a universal USB-C charger for phones, tablets, wearables, and even Galaxy Books, the accessory is confirmed to support Super Fast Charging 2.0 on newer Galaxy models. Its higher wattage, however, strongly suggests Samsung may be laying the groundwork for its next generation of faster wired charging—possibly debuting with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
