Apple Watch Users Mystified by ‘Ghost Touch’ Glitch

Apple Watch users are mystified by a ‘ghost touch’ glitch, which causes the watch’s screen to act as if is being tapped or swiped when untouched.

Since the glitch causes the watch to constantly register inputs, the user is unable to control the screen and may not even be able to unlock their device.

Apparently this can cause the watch to make calls and prevent the user from entering their passcode, according to an internal memo sent to Apple Authorised Providers, which was seen by MacRumors.

The memo states that some customers may report their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 is experiencing false touches on their display, and added that customers may describe this issue as ‘ghost’ touches as it causes the screen to register taps and swipes without any input, leading the screen to ‘jump erratically’.

Several social media commenters confirmed that they had experienced this glitch.

Apple, which has not provided any additional information on how many users had been affected by the glitch, says it is aware of and investigating the issue. This may indicated that the glitch could be fairly widespread.

Those users affected by the ghost touch’ glitch can fix the issue with a simple forced reset.
