US tech behemoth Apple is tipped to launch not one but two 5G-enabled iPhones as well as a third non-5G iPhone in 2020 according to a respected industry analyst.
As previously reported, the tech giant is not expected to launch a 5G iPhone until 2020 at the earliest, much later than its competition Samsung and LG who have already launched their 5G devices.
The analyst is tipping Apple to unveil the devices that will feature OLED screens.
The two 5G models are expected to be 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch respectively and the third non-5G LTE version measures 6.1-inch.
Kuo also attests that all iPhones released in the following year, 2021, will be 5G-enabled.
He also says that the US tech giant will have its own 5G modem ready between 2022 and 2023, lessening its reliance on third-party chipsets.
According to Kuo, despite the multi-billion dollar settlement and other companies vying to supply 5G chipsets to Apple, Qualcomm will be the initial supplier.
iPhone sales have been plummeting worldwide in the past year as consumers tend to hold on to their smartphone devices for longer and many are defecting to Apple’s Android competitors which offer more choice to consumers.
