Apple is reportedly preparing its biggest smart home expansion in years with AI-powered devices on their way. A new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini and an AI-powered smart home hub are reportedly near launch and expected to be in homes later this year.

The launch is expected to coincide with Apple’s upgraded Siri AI, which will become the centrepiece of the company’s smart home strategy after previous delays pushed back the hardware rollout.

The next-generation Apple TV 4K is tipped to feature a more powerful processor capable of supporting Apple Intelligence features locally. If true, it has the potential to transform the device from a streaming box into a smart home control hub.

Also expected in the new lineup is Apple’s updated HomePod mini, featuring a faster chip and improved Siri performance. While AI requests are expected to rely largely on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, the speaker will gain enhanced smart home capabilities.

As the trend toward AI integrated features and displays continues, a new Apple smart home hub is also tipped to launch soon. The 7-inch display smart home hub device is also predicted to integrate HomeKit controls, FaceTime, widgets, security monitoring and AI-powered Siri into one single interface.

If the reports are true, Apple’s smart home hub, which is a device expected to sit somewhere between an iPad, HomePod and smart display system, could revolutionise the way Apple’s smart devices work together and operate. It could become one of the company’s most important new consumer products since the Apple Watch.

However, it’s important to note that Apple has not officially announced the product, so all details are based on reports, primarily from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

It appears that Apple is positioning the three products as a connected ecosystem, strengthening competition with smart home platforms from Amazon and Google, while encouraging consumers to invest more in the Apple ecosystem.

The rollout highlights Apple’s broader strategy of using Apple Intelligence to drive hardware upgrades across its product range. Smart home devices are the latest category to benefit from the company’s AI integration.
