Apple Predictions 2020: Cheaper iPhone, iPads & MacBook Pro

Credible analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is behind the leak of Apple’s apparent ‘AirTags’ tracking feature, says Apple will release new iPhone, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro or MacBook Air models in the first half of 2020.

Also in the running for release are high-end Bluetooth headphones, a smaller wireless charging pad and the long rumoured AirTags.

Kuo’s forecast is largely collaborated by other reports of Apple’s predicted releases for 2020.

The upcoming iPhone is set to be a lower-cost version of the device, similar to the iPhone 8, with a 4.7-inch LCD screen and a TouchID home button – although this is in contention, with some arguing Apple is planning to ditch the fingerprint technology.

The budget iPhone will also come with a faster A13 chip and 3GB of RAM, according to Kuo.

The new iPad Pro models will reportedly host a triple-lens rear camera that supports 3D sensing for Augmented Reality (AR) products and are anticipated to be announced as early as March, Kuo says.

But in his forecast, it’s not clear if Kuo is predicting the release of either a new MacBook Pro or MacBook Air or both.

Other outlets have reported that a MacBook Pro is set to be released this year.

Kuo did not give any more details about the Bluetooth headphones or charging pad either.

But despite these predictions, the coronavirus in China’s Wuhan Province is expected to cause a delay in Apple’s production.

Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that the company would be replacing stock from suppliers in the Wuhan region, after the virus first emerged.

Kuo predicts that unless the situation improves, an immunisation shot being developed for example, Apple may be forced to postpone product release schedules.

Apple has declined to comment.
