Apple Opts For LG Display For Next iPhone
Whilst Samsung will remain the primary supplier of OLED for smaller forthcoming iPhones, recent reports reveal that Apple has opted for LG Display for its largest iPhone to date.
Market commentators, such as KGI Research, speculate that Apple will release three new iPhones, including its largest smartphone to date, the 6.5-inch ‘iPhone XL’.
The Korea Herald states that LG Display will start shipping OLED panels for the iPhone XL in the second half of 2018.
KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, predicts that all three new iPhones will features Apple’s new FaceID in lieu of the traditional home button.
Via an investor note, Appleinsider has revealed that the more affordable iPhone of the upcoming trio, will feature Apple’s LCD technology with a lower resolution than OLED.
