Apple has been awarded a US patent for an iPad with a hinged keyboard accessory that will run macOS.
Patently Apple spotted the patent on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office database, filed with the below illustrations.
Given that Apple have marketed the iPad with the slogan “your next computer is not a computer” for quite a while, it makes sense they are planning to port macOS onto future versions of the iPad, rather than the standard iPadOS.
Patently Apple speculated: “Could Apple be considering a hybrid iPad/MacBook device? While Apple’s patent suggests it’s a possibility, philosophically speaking, Apple has always refused to consider such a hybrid OS device.”
