Apple’s market value has risen by USD$1 trillion in just over 15 months to see the tech giant become the first company to reach a market capitalisation of USD$3 trillion.

Driven by the pandemic, which has seen a huge boom in the tech industry’s fortunes, shares in Apple rose by 3 per cent yesterday, bringing it past the milestone.

Apple first became a $US1 trillion company in August 2018, doubling this just two years later. It has added 500 million to its market value since November 15 – a stunning leap.

For comparison’s sake, Microsoft is valued at roughly USD$2.5 trillion, with Alphabet worth USD$2 trillion. Tesla and Amazon are worth over USD$1 trillion.
