Apple Adds AI Playlist Creator And Concert Listings In iOS 26.4 Beta Update
Apple has introduced a series of changes to Apple Music as part of its iOS 26.4 Beta release, with artificial intelligence playing a central role in the latest update. The company has rolled out five new features designed to refine playlist management, surface live event information and refresh the app’s visual presentation.
The headline addition is a new AI-driven playlist generator known as Playlist Playground. Using Apple Intelligence, subscribers can enter a written prompt to automatically generate a curated playlist of 25 tracks. The tool is intended to streamline music discovery, allowing users to tailor mood-based or theme-based collections in seconds. Once generated, playlists can be edited manually, with songs added, removed or rearranged to suit personal preferences.
The introduction of AI tools in music streaming continues to spark debate across the industry. While some critics question the growing role of automation in creative spaces, AI-assisted playlist creation is generally seen as less contentious than the distribution of fully AI-generated music.

Apple has also updated how users manage their libraries. A new multi-select option allows a track to be added to several playlists at the same time. When saving a song, users can tap a selection icon in the lower-right corner and choose multiple destinations in one action, reducing the need for repetitive steps.
Live music integration is another focus of the update. Artist profiles within Apple Music will now display an Upcoming Concerts section when tour information is available. The feature provides details of forthcoming performances and includes links for ticket purchases, bringing event discovery directly into the streaming app.
The Ambient Music function has been expanded with the addition of a Home Screen widget. The feature offers quick access to four pre-set listening modes, Sleep, Chill, Productivity and Wellbeing. Users can select either a small or medium widget size for faster playback control without opening the app.
Visual refinements complete the update. Album and playlist artwork now influences the background styling within the interface, creating a more immersive and colour-coordinated browsing experience.
Apple Music, which is priced in Australia from A$12.99 per month for an individual plan, has previously received strong reviews for its sound quality and curated content. The latest enhancements suggest Apple is aiming to blend intelligent automation with practical usability improvements as competition among streaming platforms intensifies.
