‘Android Enjoyed’ Fined $3M Amid E-Tailer Crackdown

Online consumer electronics seller, Android Enjoyed, and its director, Yuen Ho Wong, have been fined over $3 million by the Supreme Court of NSW for failing to comply with Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

The fine is reportedly among the highest recorded for NSW Fair Trading, and follows increasing scrutiny around online sellers.

Android Enjoyed was frequently slammed for failing to repair defective goods, provide refunds, and in some cases even deliver items – notching hundreds of reported complaints, and several public warnings.

The e-tailer topped the NSW Fair Trading Complaints Register 17 times since July 2016, including eight straight months between November 2017 – June 2018.

NSW Minister For Better Regulation and Innovation, Kevin Anderson, asserts the fine sends a strong message to overseas sellers with limited Australian operations.

Parent company, Digital Marketing and Solutions – who also owns Camera Sky – was penalised $2.25 million for ACL breaches, and Mr Wong fined $900,000 and banned from being a corporation director.

The news comes after NSW Fair Trading took Wong and his entity to court in September last year, with both websites shutting down the month prior.

Fair Trading revealed the websites frequently displayed product listings which were not in stock, and/or misrepresented delivery times.
