Google has dropped its first official hint about Android 18, and it sounds like graphics could be one of the big areas getting an upgrade.

Android 18 has surfaced on the schedule for Google’s upcoming Android Dev Summit 2026, where the company promises a look at “powerful new graphics features” coming with the next version of Android. Google isn’t saying exactly what those features are yet, but this is an early official indication of what Android 18 could bring to phones next year.

We might find out more very soon. Android Dev Summit 2026 takes place on October 28 and 29, with an Android leadership keynote scheduled to discuss the latest features and updates across the platform.

Google hasn’t explicitly said Android 18 will be formally unveiled at the event, so don’t necessarily expect a complete rundown of the operating system. However, its appearance on the summit agenda suggests we could at least get some early details about what’s coming.

The event is primarily designed for developers, with sessions divided across four main areas: AI experiences, Android XR, app foundations, and tools and performance. That means Android 18 won’t be the only focus, with Google also expected to discuss the broader future of its Android ecosystem.

The summit will be held at Google’s Bay View campus in Mountain View, California. Attendance in person is limited to selected professional Android developers, who can apply for a place, but the keynote will be streamed live for everyone else.

Right now, Google’s reference to “powerful new graphics features” is about as much as we officially know about Android 18. There are no details about how those improvements will work or what difference users will actually notice.

Still, Android 18 appearing on an official Google event schedule means the next generation of Android is starting to come into view.

We probably won’t get the complete Android 18 picture at the Dev Summit, but with the event now less than a month away, Google’s first real details could be just around the corner.
