Android 12 Is Out, But Not Really…

Google announced October 4 as the release date for the long-awaited Android 12 OS, although that day seems to have come and gone without most users being able to access the operating system.

The source code has been released to manufacturers, but the actual OS hasn’t reached members of the public, unless they wish to download the unfinished (and, no doubt, buggy) beta 5 version.

So when will the public get Android 12?

According to Google, the ‘over the air’ update will “roll out to the Pixel phones in the next few weeks and to Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi devices later this year.”

Given that the Pixel 6 event is slated to take place on October 19, that could be the day that Pixel users get access – surely the new phones will have Android 12 installed out of the box, right?

It’s all very vague, to say the least.
