Amazon To Charge For Previously-Free Ring Security Features

Amazon is clearly feeling the crunch, announcing it will soon be charging for currently-free Ring features.

Later this month, a Ring Protect subscription will be required to arm or disarm your Ring Alarm via the Ring app. Digital notifications on the app will also require a subscription – removing a lot of the great free features of the product.

Owners of Ring doorbells and cameras will also now need to fork out for a monthly subscription service in order to toggle between Home and Away mode, and enable Live View.

The good news is that if you owned a Ring product before March 29, you won’t be require to have a Ring Protect subscription, but any new users after that date will have to sign up to yet another monthly service.
