Amazon Fire TV Stick Now Supports Apple TV

Starting from today, Fire TV Stick Basic Edition owners in Australia can now download the Apple TV app, meaning for the first time ever, users can watch the movies and channels they purchase from Apple on their Fire TV.

Beginning November 1, Apple TV+ will also be available to subscribers on the Apple TV app via their Fire TV, while non-subscribers will still have the ability to stream any movies or shows purchased through iTunes.

With the announcement, Amazon Fire TV joins the number of other third-party platforms that will have support for the Apple TV app, which currently includes TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, Roku and Vizio.

In terms of original content, Apple’s commitment has been well-documented, with the company recently increasing its content budget from around $1 billion to more than $6 billion.

According to Apple, the company wants its services division to reach $50 billion in sales by 2020.

Despite Apple TV support only being available on Fire TV Sticks, Amazon says they will be doing the same for its Fire TVs and the Fire TV Cube “very soon”.

The Apple TV streaming service will launch globally next Friday for $7.99 per month.
