Amazon and Apple Join Forces With Prime Video Available On Apple TV

Apple has decided to join forces with online mega store Amazon by allowing its streaming service Amazon Prime to be accessible on Apple TV.

This comes a day after the feud between Google and Amazon continues it run as Google removes YouTube from every Amazon streaming device such as Fire TV.

Apple says the Amazon Prime will be available in 100 countries – including Australia – starting today.

Eddy Cue, SVP of Internet Software and Services at Apple says, “Amazon Prime Video is one of the most eagerly anticipated apps to come to Apple TV, so we’re excited to bring all of that great content to customers. The Sports tab in the Apple TV app makes it even easier for fans in the US to track the teams, games and moments that are important to them. With these exciting updates, plus our growing collection of 4K HDR movies on iTunes, we continue to deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience to Apple customers.”

Apple says Prime Video is integrated into the Apple TV app where available, so members can easily find and discover their favorite Amazon shows and movies on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, and also find Amazon content using the Siri Remote and universal search on Apple TV. With the addition of Prime Video, Siri can now search 1.3 million TV episodes and movies on Apple TV.

Apple has also noted an additional software update for the TVos 11.2 will allow Apple TV 4K customers to choose between having video converted to the best format their TV can support or outputting the video in its original frame rate and dynamic range.
