A new take on the classic Technics SL-1200 turntable is blending audio heritage with fashion-led design. Created in collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore, the updated model introduces a distinctive Mulberry Green finish paired with gold detailing, giving the well-known deck a more lifestyle-focused identity.

Despite the visual overhaul, the underlying technology remains unchanged. The turntable continues to use Technics’ direct-drive motor system, known for its consistent speed and reliability, along with the familiar S-shaped tonearm and manual playback controls that have long made it a staple in DJ and hi-fi setups.

The design shift places greater emphasis on how the turntable fits into a home environment, appealing to collectors as much as dedicated vinyl listeners. While performance remains at a professional standard, the aesthetic is clearly intended to stand out alongside record collections and interior styling.

Priced at around A$3,200, with the cartridge sold separately, the model sits firmly in the premium category. Availability is limited, with distribution restricted to the United States, making it less accessible for international buyers.

The release highlights how classic audio equipment is increasingly being repositioned as both functional technology and design statement.
