Michael Doyle Director of Sales at LG claims that the new
range of LG products is as “good as they have ever been” with the
Company having an edge in the OLED TV market.

Doyle admitted that a big issue for retailers is education
spanning their new WebOS software Ultra High Definition TV’s and explaining the
difference between 4K and OLED TV technology.

He said that sales of Ultra HD TV’s was growing in Australia
and that consumers were starting to migrate from plasma and early 1080p Full HD
TV to a new generation of display technology.

He said that GFK data reveals that UHD already makes up 5
percent of TV sales locally.

Earlier today LG revealed six new UHD models. The U Series consists
of the UB850T and UB980T ranges. The 850T is being designated as the mid-tier
range – available in 49- and 55-inches, starting at $2499.

At the top end LG is introducing the 980T premium UHD range
which has 200Hz refresh rate this model is available today in a 65-inch panel.
A 79-inch model will be launched in June along with an 84-inch model and a
massive 98-inch model later in the year.

The Company has also shown their new WebOS technology which
we revealed last week.

WebOS will be in all LG LCD models in the 6500 range and
higher. The 32LB6500, which one can only presume is the 32-inch version, is the
cheapest way to get into webOS, at $899. It’s already available. The 65-inch
version of that TV will be available in late June for $4599.

Doyle said “This year we can really make an impression
in the TV and home entertainment market, we have a stunning range of products
and multiple choices. We have an impressive range of wireless audio which when
linked with our software, tablets and smartphones delivers both mesh networking
and superior software connectivity over Sonos at a considerably cheaper
price”.

Doyle said that the Company is also introducing a new
77-inch Curved Ultra HD OLED TV which will take on the Samsung curved TV
offering.
