Too Ezy? Netflix Ousts Aussie Video-Stream Operator Ezyflix
EzyFlix, which launched in 2013, yesterday told its customers: “Thank you for having been a part of EzyFlix. Access Digital Entertainment has decided to end the service offered on this site. If you have rented or purchased any movies or TV shows, these movies are no longer available on EzyFlix.
“If you have purchased or redeemed an UltraViolet title through EzyFlix, these may be accessed through several other digital movie services.”
EzyFlix was an entirely digital movie and TV store, and an online streaming partner of DVD and Blu-ray retailer EzyDVD. But it lacked the hefty online presence of Netflix, Presto and Stan – and ultimately paid the price.
Customers who acquired UltraViolet content are not entirely bereft. The UltraViolet concept allows users to still download their stored Blu-ray or DVD movies whenever they wish – perhaps a portent for a digital future which has escaped Ezyflix.
