Lenovo is set to invest “significantly” in re-establishing the Motorola brand in Australia with Barry Smyth the global marketing director at Motorola Mobility in San Francisco eturning to Melbourne to head up Motorola Marketing.
The former marketing manager for Motorola in Australia, Smyth, who was at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona this week said that he has every confidence that the relaunch of the Motorola Mobility range in Australia will be a success.
He said that he was relocating from San Francisco to Melbourne to spearhead “major marketing initiatives” for the brand.
“Research shows that consumers, know the brand, trust the brand and we believe that those looking for an Android based premium smartphone will consider the Motorola brand”.
Matt Codrington the CEO of Lenovo Australia the Chinese Company who now own the Motorola Mobility business said that the new range in Australia will consist of Motorola smartphones and tablets s well as smartwatches.
At one stage the Motorola smartphone was the #1 smartphone in Australia with former Manchester United and England player along with Black Eye Peas visiting Australia to support the brand.
