Sony Says Goodbye Morpheus, Hello Playstation VR

Sony Says Goodbye Morpheus, Hello Playstation VRWhile a specific release date hasn’t been locked in
(Sony has previously stated it is targeting the first half of 2016), the
company states it will continue development of the PS VR, with the official
naming bringing a sense of fresh momentum to its VR venture.

There’s momentum building behind virtual reality in general, with some heavy
hitting tech players making initial forays into the market amid a number of releases
this year, with Sony looking to be the first gaming giant to pair a console
with a VR headset.

Sony says the PlayStation VR will take the PS4 “to the next level of
immersion”, allowing players to “feel as if they are physically
inside the virtual world of a game,” according to Masayasu Ito, EVP,
division president of PS product business, and VP of Sony’s software design
division.

Sony says third party software developers and publishers, along with SCE
Worldwide Studios, have been developing a broad range of software titles, with
several to be showcased globally at events, starting with the Tokyo Game Show,
which opens today. – Channel News
