 Music Unlimited will close on March 29, with Sony stating Spotify on PlayStation Music will roll out in 41 markets, including Australia, initially for PlayStation consoles and Xperia smartphones and tablets.
Sony states the digital music service will be “deeply integrated”, with users able to link their accounts with Spotify, and able to subscribe to Spotify through the PlayStation Network wallet, with PlayStation 4 owners to additionally be able to use Spotify while playing games. “We are incredibly honoured to partner with Sony and PlayStation to give gamers around the world an amazing experience wherever they listen to music,” commented Spotify CEO and founder Daniel Ek. “As a gamer and PlayStation 4 user myself, I’m super excited to be able to soundtrack my FIFA 15 Arsenal matches later this spring.” Spotify recently announced it ended 2014 with 15 million subscribers and 60 million active users, growing from more than 50 million active users, of which 12.5 million were subscribers, in November. Spotify on PlayStation Music will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 systems, as well as Xperia smartphones and tablets. |
