The users have reported issues downloading anything from Apple services such as the App Store or Apple Music, through both iOS and OS X on both mobile and broadband connections.

The issue has been compounded by users’ inability to access the newly-released updates to the iOS mobile operating system as well as the new El Capitan version of OS X for desktop Macs and Macbooks, both of which went public last week. The problems also come just after the Australian release of Apple’s new iPhone 6s on Friday.

Vocus engineering GM Rick Carter has confirmed that the SEA-ME-WE cable connecting Perth to Singapore had been cut since September 25. He said a cable repair ship had been deployed and will hopefully repair the cable by October 15.
