Dell Eyes $10 Billion Asset Sale

Dell is aiming to reduce the heavy debt load it will be taking on when the EMC acquisition goes through.

Dell will assume US$49.5 billion of debt once the deal is completed.

Assets Dell could sell include its IT management arm, Quest Software, e-mail encryption and data security provider Sonic Wall, back-up solutions unit AppAssure and IT services provider Perot Systems.

Dell agreed last month to buy data storage company EMC for $67 billion. Dell’s hardware assets such as servers would not be included in any assets sale.
