Acer Gets Busy With CES Product Launches
In addition to its new Chromebook 15, Acer has unveiled products ranging from an entertainment hub to a new addition to its smartphone line-up, along with two new gaming monitors.
– Revo One RL85
Acer’s new Revo One is a personal computer designed to act as an entertainment centre, featuring multimedia sharing and content streaming, and powered by Intel Core i3 or i5 processors.
The Revo One supports dual displays (HDMI and Mini-DisplayPort), an ultra-HD (3840 x 2160) 4K2K video output, as well as 7.1 channels for audio output.
The Revo One supports Acer’s Build Your Own Cloud (BYOC) service, providing users access to their files on all of their devices wherever they are.
The Revo One ships with an optional multi-use remote control with a full keyboard and a trackpad, while the Acer Smart Control app, available on iOS and Android, allows users to control the Revo One remotely and stream content directly from their smartphone.
– Liquid Jade S
Acer has added to its Liquid Jade smartphone series with the Liquid Jade S, created to be “an elegant but powerful smartphone”.
Supporting 4G LTE (Cat. 4), the 5″ Jade S is powered by a 64-bit Mediatek octa-core processor, and will initially run on Android 4.4 Jelly Bean, with Acer stating it is Android 5.0 Lollipop ready for when available later in 2015.
The Jade S sports a 13 MP rear camera with an f1.8 aperture and a 5 MP front camera, with both cameras voice-actionable via basic terms such as “cheese” or “selfie”.
– Acer XB270HU and Acer XG270HU
Acer has added two new monitors to its line-up in the form of the Acer XB270HU and Acer XG270HU.
“The Acer XB270HU is the world’s first Nvidia G-sync gaming monitor equipped with IPS technology, and the Acer XG270HU is the world’s first gaming monitor with an edge-to-edge frameless display,” Acer states.
“Both of these 27-inch displays come with WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution and a fast 144 Hz refresh rate to enhance in-gaming performance.”
The XB270HU “provides consistently clear images from up to 178 degree-wide viewing angles”, with Acer stating the Nvidia G-sync technology “ensures every frame rendered by the GPU is perfectly portrayed by synchronising the monitor’s refresh rates to the GPU in a GeForce GTX-powered PC”, eliminating screen tearing and minimising display stutter and input lag.
The XG270HU’s edge-to-edge frameless display maximises viewing area and provides a more seamless viewing experience for multi-monitor setups, while a “quick 1 ms response time assures that actions or dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without smearing or ghosting effects”.
The XG270HU includes HDMI 2.0, DVI, and DisplayPort 1.2 connectivity.
