4K Home Projector Shipments to Soar 750% By 2021

Market commentators forecast global shipments of 4K home projectors to soar a whopping 750% by 2021, jumping from 80,000 units in 2017 to 680,000 units by 2021.

The news comes as 4K continues to grow in supply and demand – even budget TV brands, such as ALDI’s Bauhn are supporting the resolution, with streaming services (like Netflix) offering the viewing quality.

Taiwanese Optoma and BenQ have recently grown their range of Ultra HD 4K projectors, in a bid to secure market share, and capitalise on forthcoming growth.

According to Taiwanese trade publication, DigiTimes, latest research forecasts 4K home projector systems to grow 75% this year alone.

Complimenting its existing range of 4K projectors, Optoma’s new ‘UHD 51A’ is heralded the world’s first Alexa-supported home projector.

The company is also reportedly developing projectors compatible with Google Home and Microsoft’s Cortana.

Optoma Asia-Pacific Assistant VP, Gordon Wu, claims the company’s project shipments in the region jumped 50% year-on-year in 2017.
