Stunning New 34″ Samsung Curved Monitor To Be Revealed at CES 2015

Stunning New 34" Samsung Curved Monitor To Be Revealed at CES 2015

The new display panel has an edge-to-edge curved radius of
3,000 mm, a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 3,440 x 1,440 (Ultra WQHD) resolution, making
it ideal for gamers and users looking for a super slick looking display monitor
that also doubles as a TV.

“Unlike flat screen monitors where the viewing distance
differs from the centre of the screen to the edges, the screen edges of the
SE790C more closely match the natural curve of a viewer’s eyes,” Samsung
claimed in their Tomorrow blog. “As a result, the SE790C creates a
distortion-free viewing experience with less eye strain and enhanced comfort
for viewer.”

According to the blog, the new curved monitor has a static
contrast ratio of 3,000:1, a typical brightness of 300 cd/m2, a response time
of 4ms and 178 degree viewing angles. There’s also a Picture-By-Picture mode
that allows users to connect two devices and view their screens side-by-side,
as well as a Picture-In-Picture mode for viewing a second screen within the
first screen. Four USB 3.0 ports eliminate the need for a docking station

The new monitor has a “game mode,” which alters
the contrast, “enhances” colours and eliminates motion blurring. This
mode is complemented by two built-in 7 watt stereo speakers that promise a
“richer experience.” A curved T-shaped stand allows the user to
adjust the monitor’s height, and VESA brackets enable wall mounting.

Samsung is no stranger when it comes to the curved monitor
market. The company has one other model that’s already on store shelves and
costs $429.99. This 27-inch solution includes a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a
static contrast ratio of 3,000:1, an aspect ratio of 16:9, a 4ms response time
and a brightness of 300 cd/m2. Additional features include 178 degree viewing
angles, one VGA port, one HDMI port, one DisplayPort jack and audio input.

Samsung didn’t provide a release date or price for the new
SE790C panel, but we expect to see and hear more about the panel during CES
2015 in January.
