Which Is The Best Kettle? Breville VConsumer advocate Choice recently testing a truckload of kettles – 45 in all – everything from high end DeLonghi Brillante and Breville Smart Kettle to lower priced Kambrook Classic Dome. 

Choice’s top 4 buys were selected on overall performance, noise, ease of use, boiling time and energy efficiency. 

Breville Smart Kettle BKE825 costing $150 – the best of the lot, was given an 82% rating overall.  


But hot on the heels of the pricey Breville was probably one of the cheapest kettles tested – Homemaker Quiet Boil F -743SQ which costs $29. In fact, Choice could not even find anything wrong with the $29 kettle and gave it an 80% rating. 
Other kettles in Choice’s top 4 buys were: Morphy Richards Meno 43892 ($150), which also got 80% rating but one fault cited was the water level is difficult to see (also a criticism of the Breville) and Sunbeam Cafe Series KE9600 which costs over $100 but had one flaw: “pre-set temperature settings are not particularly accurate.”
