Woollies Moves Deeper Into Cloud

Woolworths has begun the rollout of its hefty new point-of-sale, inventory and ticketing systems dubbed 1Store. It’s eventually to be implemented in more than 3000 Woolies supermarkets and BWS liquor stores.

Ten stores are said to be already running the full suite of NCR Retalix PoS applications, while hardware for Woolies’ traditional and self-serve checkouts has been upgraded.

Eventually the system is planned to be introduced at 25,000 point-of-sale units and 7000 self-service checkouts.

Reports say that, apart from the NCR PoS systems, the cloud-based set-up includes an SAP SuccessFactors human capital management system, while some older systems have been introduced to the cloud via Microsoft’s Azure.
