Just over a year on from launch, Microsoft’s Windows 10 has reached 20% market share when it comes to PC users.

According to Net Applications, Windows 10 has now reached 21.13% of worldwide OS share.

It’s more than double Apple’s 7% but still pales in comparison to Windows 7’s 47%.

Minor player like Linux clocked in at 2.3%.

The passing of the 20% milestone is a good sign for Microsoft, even if Windows 10 still has quite a road ahead of it to the top of the charts.

It took Windows 7 roughly three years to overtake Windows XP as the world’s most popular OS.

Microsoft have touted that over 350 million units of Windows 10 have been installed as of June.

It’s unknown the impact that the final month of the company’s free upgrade promotion will have on those numbers as of yet.
