WD Brings Portable SSDs To The Masses

Western Digital has launched a new pocket-sized SSD aimed at consumers looking for affordable portability.

The WD Elements SE SSD is available in capacities up to 2TB, and features read speeds reaching 400MB/s. It is billed as the ideal solution for consumers needing to move their files quickly between desktops, laptops, and other devices.

According to Simon Whitford, Senior Sales Manager, Western Digital ANZ, SSDs have typically been sold at price points beyond the reach of the average consumer.

“At Western Digital, we aim to make SSD technology more accessible for consumers. People should not have to make the difficult decision between affordability, performance and the dependability of a brand that they can trust, which is why we are thrilled to be able to bring the WD Elements SE SSD to the local market,” he said.

The new drive is available today at Western Digital’s online store, as well as Officeworks and other select retailers, starting at $119 for the 480GB model.
