Voice Assistant Update For $400 B&O Headphones

Bang & Olufsen have updated their $400 entry-level H4 wireless headphones to bring long-overdue support for voice-activated assistants.

The Danish audio company today announced that the entry-level H4 wireless B&O headphones would see the update arrive before the end of the year, to improve touch controls, the microphone as well as the aforementioned voice assistant access support.

Starting at $400, the Beoplay H4 wireless headphones will be available in black and limestone, arriving in early December, though there is no word yet on Australian availability or pricing.

The long-overdue update to B&O’s entry-level headphones finally brings support for the likes of Siri, the Google Assitant and Amazon Alexa to be called upon by the dedicated voice assistant button on the ear cup.

Featuring an aluminium design, with lambskin covered memory foam for the ear cups, the H4 headphones are a comfortable premium product that weighs only 244g.

Offering up to 19 hours of playback from the 600mAh battery, the H4 headphones can be fully recharged in 2.5 hours via the USB-C port.

The headphones do feature a dedicated call button for the voice assistant, and support for aptX Low Latency to improve synchronisation with video playback.

Unfortunately, unlike the H8 and H9 B&O headphones, the Beoplay H4’s do not come with active noise cancellation, though the over-ear design will assist in blocking out some ambient noise.

The braided cable, made of ‘refined materials’, that connects each headphone cup is now less visible for a sleeker and premium look.

An additional microphone has been added to the headphones to improve voice quality, as well as updates to the user interface for more straightforward navigation.

The headphones are also compatible with the Bang & Olufsen App, for configuration and control over audio streaming.

A limited-edition tote bag is also on offer to the first 25 customers following the launch of the next-generation H4 headphones in Paris.
