Vicinity Centres Snare Sydney Airport Chairman
ASX-listed shopping mall owner, Vicinity Centres, has elected Sydney Airport chairman, Trevor Gerber, as its incoming chair, taking the helm following Peter Kahan’s leave of absence.
Vicinity Centres is the owner of several national shopping precincts including Sydney’s Chatswood Chase, The Galeries and Melbourne’s Chadstone.
Disclosed to the ASX, Mr Kahan took a leave of absence for a health reasons (and will take additional leave to recover post surgery), however, will remain on the board as Non-Executive Director.
Mr Gerber was a Non-Executive Director of Vicinity Centres’ board, and has been elected incoming Chairman, taking the reigns from Acting Chair, Peter Hay, who will retire from the board.
He will take over after the 2019 AGM in November.
“While it was a very difficult decision for Peter not to resume the chairmanship, the board supports his decision to focus on his full recovery without the additional responsibilities of the chairman,” states Mr Hay.
Gerber has been a Non-Executive Director of Vicinity since 2015, and is also the Director of CIMIC and Tassel.
“Trevor is a highly accomplished listed company director and chairman, and has demonstrated strong leadership and judgement on Vicinity’s board over a number of years.”
Shares in Vicinity Centres are currently trading flat at $2.58.
