Vamos To Exit Telstra Board

Peripatetic technology company executive and more recent multiple board member Steve Vamos has revealed plans to exit the Telstra board at the Big T’s AGM on October 16.

Vamos, pictured, has been a Telstra director for nine years and is currently a member of the nomination and remuneration committees. Board members score at least $240,000 a year, usually plus shares and maybe a nice phone.

According to Telstra chairman John Mullen, Vamos’s departure is due to his recent appointment as CEO of New Zealand-based and ASX-listed accounting software outfit Xero.

In recent years Vamos has also relinquished board or similar positions at Divvy Parking, Society for Knowledge Economics, David Jones and Medibank.

Highlights of his working life have included high-ranking positions at Microsoft and Apple Australia. He joined Xero as CEO in April, this year.
