Uniden has added another accolade to its name, with the company’s DashView 40R 3-in-1 smart dash cam taking home a Good Design Award in the Product Design category at this year’s Australian International Good Design Awards.

The award was presented at Sydney’s International Convention Centre on October 17. Uniden Oceania Executive General Manager Damon Gardner and Head of Marketing Brad Hales accepted the award on behalf of the company.

The Australian Good Design Awards, one of the world’s longest-running international design programs, celebrate products that “define, reward, and inspire positive change.”

This year’s theme, Design for Better, highlighted how thoughtful design can contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Standing out among a record number of entries, the Uniden DashView 40R impressed judges for its compact and refined design, integrating front, rear and interior cameras into one unit.

The jury praised its simplicity, user-focused engineering and reduced cable clutter, saying it “keeps Australian drivers safer and more informed” while enhancing the driving experience.

Beyond functionality, the DashView 40R earned high marks for sustainability. It replaces traditional lithium-ion batteries with a supercapacitor, extending lifespan and reducing chemical waste.

According to the jury, this innovation delivers greater durability, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

Good Design Australia Managing Director Rachel Wye said the 2025 awards marked a new benchmark for excellence.

“The calibre of this year’s winners was the highest on record, showcasing projects that push the boundaries of innovation and impact,” said Wye. “These awards prove how design can drive meaningful, sustainable change.”

Now in its 67th year, the Australian Good Design Awards recognise achievements across 13 design disciplines and more than 35 categories, from engineering and digital to social impact and product design.
