Tivoli Audio’s New Tabletop Product Lacks Terrestrial Radio

Tivoli Audio have unveiled a new tabletop radio, which works with WiFi and Bluetooth, has a sleek new design enabling horizontal or vertical positioning, and a new simple, single knob that controls power, source selection and volume.

Named the Model Two Digital, this tabletop radio is the sequel to the Model One Digital, lacking an AM/FM tuner, resulting in it being the first Tivoli Audio “Model” tabletop product lacking a terrestrial radio feature.

This model was available for preorder beginning September 19th, and is expected to start shipping in November. It’s also expected to retail for $649.00 AUD, available in three colour combinations (walnut/gold, white/silver, and black/black).

The company are claiming the radio will appeal to consumers who love streaming and aren’t concerned about a traditional FM/AM radio feature, as they can access favourite terrestrial stations through apps such as TuneIn, ultimately making this a wireless speaker.

The Model Two Digital can be connected from a smartphone or other devices via Bluetooth, Chromecast, or Apple AirPlay 2, and it has support for Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect.

Tivoli Audio claim the new diagonally oriented grille was inspired by COVID, with a brushed metal ionised finish that’s easier to clean and disinfect compared with previous products.

Some things that haven’t changed are the use of real wood veneers for the cabinets, and a 3.5mm analog input on the rear to connect external devices including TVs and turntables.

There is also a new set of drivers under the exterior, a 3.5 inch full range driver, and .75 inch tweeter. No specifics have been revealed thus yet on the amplification, however the company claim it sounds louder than predecessors.
