TCL Reveals NEW 2021 Mobile Models 5G For Sub $500

TCL has unveiled its 2021 smartphone lineup at CES, including a 5G device launching at under 300 Euro (approximately $475 AUD).

The TCL 20 Series follows on from last year’s 10 Series, and will include improved NXTVISION 2.0 display technology, boosted performance and battery life, and at least two 5G models.

Leading the way is the TCL 20 5G. Powered by an 8nm octa-core Snapdragon 690 5G chipset, its Smart 5G technology automatically switches between 4G and 5G based on data usage to prolong the life of its 4500mAh battery. Its 6.67-inch FHD+ display supports HDR10, and is paired with an AI-powered triple camera setup. While no Australian price has been announced, it retails for 299 Euro in Italy, or just over $472 AUD.

Also launching at 175 Euro ($235 AUD) is the TCL 20 SE. Featuring a Qualcomm octa-core chipset and a 5000mAh battery with reverse charging capability, the 20 SE includes a 6.82-inch, V notch display with 90 percent screen-to-body ratio, as well as a quad rear camera array.

The company, best known for its TVs, is also planning to launch at least three more models including one more 5G phone this year, according to Aaron Zhang, CEO of TCL Communication.

“After the successful launch of the TCL Mobile brand, 2021 will be a very important year for TCL’s business as we build on the momentum established last year and continue to grow as one of the world’s largest end-to-end global consumer electronics brands.

“This year, our TCL-branded mobile devices are highlighting an increasing focus on strengthening our TCL ecosystem by making 5G connectivity more affordable and accessible to people around the world, without compromising the premium features and design associated with TCL,” he said.

The 20 Series phones will also be capable of multi-screening across TCL tablets, PCs, and TVs. The 20 5G and SE are expected to hit Australian shores near the end of Q1 2021.
