Sony Way Off 2022 PS5 Targets, As Console Sales Falter
Sony would like you to believe that their PS5 consoles are flying out the door, but they are not despite hitting 25M globally during the past two years.
Figures released last night reveal that Sony is struggling to hit their projected 18-million-unit sales for 2022, with the business up until the end of September only managing to sell 5.7M PlayStation 5 consoles.
3.3 million units were sold in the last quarter, with JB Hi Fi failing to range any of the consoles online.
Last fiscal year Sony sold 11.5M PS5 consoles with the business initially tipping 18 million for 2022 with the latest data revealing that Sony is falling “way short “of its sales expectation claim observers.
Back in May 2022, Sony announced that it was ramping up production of the PS5 to meet demand due to supply chain issues easing.
Executives are still hopeful that they can achieve their 2022 target.
