Sony Say Holiday Sales For PS4 Topped 6 Million

Sony have shed some light on the continued sales of their Playstation 4 gaming console.

The company says that they sold an additional 6.2 million units over the holiday period, bringing the total sales for the PS4 to 53.4 million units globally.

They also say that software sales for the platform proved similarly strong, with over 50.4 million games being sold across both retail and digitial distribution platforms.

Sony highlighted Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End as a particularly strong performer, accounting for 8.7 million in sales.

No sales numbers were given for the PSVR over the period.

“We are truly grateful for the tremendous support from our fans and partners, which has helped to make this holiday season one of the best in our history” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

“We will aim to continue the momentum this year by broadening the PS4 title portfolio, further enriching the revolutionary gaming experiences on PlayStation VR and high quality gaming experience on PlayStation4 Pro, while also expanding network services.  We will remain steadfast in making the PS4 the best place to play.”
