Sony Reaches 40 Million Global Sales For PlayStation 5

Sony announced it reached a milestone of over 40 million global sales of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) as of July 16th, since the unveiling in 2020.

The 25 millionth unit was sold in the quarter ending September 2022, meaning it was just over nine months for another 15 million consoles to be sold.

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan claimed they faced supply chain issues earlier due to the pandemic, which made stocking challenging.

He says they are now “well stocked” and are “seeing that pent up demand finally being met,” thanking the gamers for the milestone.

Jim says there are 2,500+ games available for the console now, including the recent launches of ‘Final Fantasy XVI,’ ‘Diablo IV,’ and ‘Street Fighter 6,’ sharing a list of the top 40 games voted for by the community.
