Sony Adds Nougat To Xperia Handsets

In line with recent moves by Samsung and Motorola, Sony looks to be adding support for the latest version of Android Nougat to its latest handsets.

Reports say Sony Mobile is in the process of rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat firmware upgrade for the Xperia Z5 series, the Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 Tablet.

According to new data released by Google, Nougat accounts for approximately 1.1% of total active Android devices.

It’s the second attempt at moving to Nougat by Sony, who attempted to initiate the upgrade only a few months ago but had to suspend its efforts after issues with audio playback were discovered.

Australian telcos have not yet confirmed when the Nougat update will become available.
