Sonos Developing Wireless Headphones

Sonos is reportedly aiming to expand their product offerings with the development of its own high-end wireless headphones, tipped to launch 2020.

According to Bloomberg, Sonos is developing a pair of high-end headphones that are tipped to cost at least US$300 and could arrive as soon as next year.

The headphones will reportedly support multiple smart assistants, much like Sonos’ latest speakers are designed to do.

As with its speakers, Sonos apparently plans for the headphones to work with numerous music services and voice-assistants.

The headphones are in the early stages of development, but reportedly the audio company has already reached out to potential manufacturers.

Sonos has struggled somewhat in recent months, losing out market share and almost a quarter of its value in recent months since it went public, and it stated in its most recent letter to shareholders that “We plan to push our boundaries by investing resources to make the experience of Sonos outside the home a reality.”

If Sonos does release these headphones, it will up against some well-established competition from JBL, Bose, Sony, Apple-owned Beats, and Bloomberg also reports that Apple could be coming out with its own Apple-branded high-end headphones are in development which could debut this year.
