Skullcandy Moves Into Hands-Free True Wireless Buds

Value audio brand Skullcandy has teamed up with true wireless headphone inventor Bragi for completely hands-free buds.

The new Skullcandy platform – set to launch across three true wireless products later this year – will offer voice commands to start and control media players, answer and reject calls, and access native smartphone voice assistants.

Jason Hodell, CEO at Skullcandy, said that as an independent audio brand, Skullcandy can offer its users a seamless experience across all platforms.

“Giving our fans the freedom to enjoy their content, control their earbuds and enable communications, all without taking off their gloves or letting go of the handlebars, is an exciting advancement for our brand,” he said.

The platform will include updatable firmware, allowing users to receive new features over-the-air through the Skullcandy app; the buds will also enable audio sharing with nearby compatible Skullcandy products, give verbal battery warnings when activated, and let users take photographs with a button press.
