Shure’s MV6 Gen 2 Gives Gamers More Control Over What Their Mic Picks Up
Shure has launched a second-generation version of its MV6 USB microphone, giving gamers and creators more control over noise reduction and automatic volume adjustments while adding a new white colour option.
The new Shure MV6 USB Gaming Microphone Gen 2 builds on the original rather than dramatically changing the hardware. Instead, Shure has focused much of the upgrade on software, responding to feedback by making some of the microphone’s automatic audio features more customisable.
That includes automatic volume levelling, which can now be adjusted to control how loud your voice sounds in the overall mix and how quickly the microphone reacts when your speaking volume changes.
Shure’s real-time denoiser is getting similar treatment. Users can adjust the strength of the noise reduction with a slider, giving them more control over how much background sound from things such as keyboards, fans and other equipment makes it into a recording or stream.

These controls are available through Shure’s free Motiv app, alongside customisable EQ settings and microphone presets designed for speech, singing and instruments.
There aren’t as many changes on the hardware side. The MV6 Gen 2 retains the familiar design of its predecessor but is now available in an all-white finish. Shure has also increased the length of the included USB-C cable to 2 metres, which should make positioning the microphone easier across larger desk setups.
The bundled desktop stand uses an isolation base designed to reduce vibrations and bumps travelling from the desk to the microphone. A universal 5/8-inch thread also lets users remove the MV6 Gen 2 from its stand and connect it to a standard boom arm.
There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack for directly monitoring audio and a dedicated mute button for quickly silencing the microphone.
The MV6 Gen 2 supports Mac, Windows and Android devices through USB-C. It’s also MFi certified by Apple, allowing it to work with compatible iPhones and iPads.
The Shure MV6 Gen 2 is available now in the US for US$169 (around A$243). Shure has yet to announce Australian pricing or availability.
