Seiko’s “Turtle” dive watch has long been a favorite among divers for its rugged design and distinctive style. Now, the Japanese brand has teamed up with the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre (CTRC), an Australian organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating sea turtles, to create a documentary following the recovery of a turtle named ‘Kame’.

Seiko first made waves in 1976 with the 6306/9, a model that has been sold under the Prospex label since 2016. Today, the “Turtle” is worn by tens of thousands of divers worldwide. Its nickname comes from the cushion-shaped case, which resembles a turtle shell, paired with a silver automatic diver’s watch, a blue gradient dial, and a rotating bezel.

To support CTRC and raise awareness for Kame — whose name means “turtle” in Japanese — Seiko has released the limited edition Prospex SRPM04K ‘Kame’. Inspired by the natural beauty of Fitzroy Island, a sea turtle sanctuary along the Great Barrier Reef, the watch features a dial and bezel reflecting the island’s vibrant colors.

Seiko will donate a portion of every Prospex ‘Kame’ sale to CTRC. Updates on Kame’s recovery and eventual release will be shared across Seiko Australia’s social channels.

The Prospex ‘Kame’ dial has a coarse texture reminiscent of an oil painting, which, from a distance, evokes shimmering ocean water. Its fumé color transitions from bright turquoise at the center to deep blue at the edges. Like the Prospex PADI “Turtle,” only the minute hand is colored — here, in seafoam green instead of red.

The dial is protected by a Hardlex crystal and framed by a dark blue ceramic dive bezel insert, featuring a seafoam green 20-minute segment and a lumed pip. A gold-tone bezel frame adds a sunlit shimmer reminiscent of light reflecting off the ocean.

The watch retains the rounded, elliptical cushion case that has earned the “Turtle” its nickname. Its stainless steel case back is engraved with “Limited Edition” and a unique number out of 1,000.

Priced at $899 in Australia, the Prospex ‘Kame’ comes on a brushed steel three-link bracelet with polished inner edges. An additional dark blue two-piece rubber dive strap with a steel pin buckle is also included.
