Samsung Galaxy S8 First Phone To Run Bluetooth 5.0
One of the smaller features on the docket for Samsung’s latest flagship device may yet prove to one of the most important. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be the first handsets on the market to boast support for the new Bluetooth 5.0 wireless transmission codec.
Offering twice the speed and four times the range as Bluetooth 4.2, users will be able to maintain connections with devices up to approximately 240 meters away from the phone.
Bluetooth 5.0 also makes the wireless transmission standard more versatile, allowing you to easily pair multiple wireless headsets to the same audio source.
At this stage, the only real issues remaining to be solved with Bluetooth lie in reducing the rate at which is churns through battery life and bumping it’s capabilities up to include hi-resolution audio.
Even if you’ve yet to make the jump to wireless earbuds (the S8 and S8+ are also packing a USB-C and 3.5mm headphones jack), it’s exciting stuff that also bodes well for Samsung’s latest foray into the Smart Home space with the Samsung Connect application.
